Siyakha Youth Assets

Siyakha Youth Assets is a longitudinal study on youth employability and financial capability programs. Conducted by a team of researchers from the United States and South Africa, Siyakha aims to fill knowledge and research gaps on evidence-based youth employability and employment programs. Started in 2014, Siyakha is in its fourth year (2017) of implementation. Follow-up data collection is currently on-going. Siyakha is supported by the Ford Foundation, the National Youth Development Agency of South Africa, and the Jobs Fund of the National Treasury of South Africa.

For detailed information about the study, see the Siyakha site on our Initiatives page.

Siyakha datasets are currently not available to the public. GSDI and our partners at the Centre for Social Development in Africa at the University of Johannesburg are preparing the collected data for release.

Siyakha codebooks are currently not available to the public. GSDI and our partners at the Centre for Social Development in Africa at the University of Johannesburg are preparing the codebooks for release.

Non-sensitive data that have been approved for public release are available for download after an approval of a restricted use application, which involves signing a data use agreement and providing brief information about the intent of use. Sensitive data are available to qualified researchers through a similar process, although researchers must meet additional requirements, such as obtaining an IRB approval and submitting a data security plan.
