Ms. Monica Mutesa


Monica MutesaMonica’s work across the national and global levels, and her thematic expertise on HIV/AIDs, gender, medicines and health systems offer a breadth of knowledge and experience to her work. She has participated in a number of health sector processes in Zambia, including National Health Strategic Plan development, Joint Technical Committees at the Ministry of Health, donor coordinating committees and the Sectoral Advisory Group.

She also has a deep understanding of the broader development context across African countries due to her previous work at Oxfam as the Southern Campaigns officer to support Oxfam country programs and partners. At the international level, her involvement in IHP+, the WHO Health Partnership Action Fund Project Technical Team, and the African Platform for Universal Health Coverage has given her experience in engaging and advocating to donors, coalitions and multilateral organizations.

Her Policy Advocacy work at PATH among other things focused on policy change for community based distribution of Injectable Family planning and Health Budget advocacy and the BID Initiative Project.This has been enhanced by Monica’s strong technical understanding of health issues and connections to local communities and organizations in Zambia, her in-depth knowledge of health sector dynamics in African countries, and practical program experience put her in good stead to advocate on health policy issues. Monica’s collaborative style, thoughtful analysis, responsiveness, organization, and clear communication skills contribute to making her a seasoned advocate.
