Ilana Shtivelman is a social work intern at GSDI, and a second-year Master of Social Work student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is pursuing the Community, Management, and Policy Practice concentration in social work and is interested in global social work, specifically focusing on human rights, conflict, and environmental issues. She has a master’s degree in International Affairs focused on dispute resolution, and studied foreign languages and communications for her undergraduate degrees. Ilana has worked in the nonprofit sector for the past 5 years, focusing mostly on youth development and education, and Jewish identity. Ilana is very excited to join the GSDI team, working primarily on the Galapagos Project.
